Penbrook Borough is pleased to announce the completion of significant improvements to Little Valley Park, symbolizing an exciting new chapter for one of the Borough’s most cherished community spaces. For generations, Little Valley Park has served as a gathering place for Penbrook residents of all ages. Beyond providing opportunities for recreation, the park has long been home to the Borough’s annual Summer Recreation Program, welcoming children ages 6 to 12 for outdoor activities, games, crafts, and educational programming each summer. The revitalization of the park ensures that future generations will continue to enjoy a safe, welcoming, and vibrant place to play, connect, and build lasting memories.
A new $100,000 soccer mini-pitch has been installed at Penbrook Community Park, marking the first of many planned improvements for the location. The installation of the mini-pitch was a fully grant-funded initiative driven by Philadelphia Soccer 2026, the local host committee for FIFA World Cup 26, in partnership with the US Soccer Foundation and Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer. A Grand Opening Celebration and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new mini-pitch is planned for 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at the Penbrook Community Park (2923 Boas Street Harrisburg, PA 17103). This event is open to all, and community members are encouraged to attend. The event will include a DJ, food trucks and an ice cream truck.
