New Trash Pickup Starting Jan 2021
The City of Harrisburg is excited for the opportunity to be your trash and recycling provider! Harrisburg’s Public Works Department will begin collecting your trash and recycling on Wednesday, January 6, 2021. Trash pickup will occur during the normal hours of operation from 7:00 a.m. through 6:00 p.m. Please continue to place your trash and recycling containers at your regular designated location. For all inquiries and questions, the City of Harrisburg has established a special phone number and email for Penbrook Borough residents. We can be reached Monday-Friday from 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at (717) 695-9716 or at penbrooktrash@harrisburgpa.gov.
For rental properties, the responsibility for contacting Harrisburg to order the container size falls upon the property owner, NOT the tenant
In the coming weeks, new trash and recycling containers will be distributed at no cost to you. You can choose from three sizes of containers. These containers are on display at the Penbrook Municipal Building and can be viewed anytime outside the door on the Canby Steet side of the Borough Building. For your convenience you are able to make your container selection one of three ways:
- Go online at https://laserfiche.harrisburgpa.gov/Forms/TrashContainer-Penbrook and select the container you want, along with your contact information such as address, phone number and email address.
- Call (717) 695-9716 and select the container size you want, along with your contact information.
- Complete this form, or the form on the back of the letter mailed to you, and return it to:
Harrisburg Department of Public Works
1820 Paxton Street
Harrisburg PA 17104
If you need to order more than 1 trash container, you will need to call in to (717) 695-9716 and NOT use the online or mail-in form
Note: All Penbrook customers will receive a 65-gallon recycling cart and a 32-gallon yard waste barrel.
To ensure no delay in service we ask that you make your selection by November 20th. Again, the City of Harrisburg is delighted to provide Penbrook with our trash and recycling services. We look forward to working with you!
