About Us

Citizens Fire Company #1 of Penbrook was organized on March 29, 1906. This organization came about from a group of public-spirited citizens, who at this time recognized the vital need for fire protection for Penbrook. The first equipment of the fire company were two hand drawn chemical wagons. These were housed in a barn as there were no fire houses available for apparatus. The fire company currently operates a 2004 American LaFrance engine and a 1996 Freightliner/Darley Air Unit.

Penbrook Borough is roughly a 1.5 square mile area that borders Harrisburg City and Susquehanna Township. Penbrook Fire Company averages between 200-400 calls a year with around 30 of them being confirmed working fires. Penbrook Fire relies on its dedicated volunteers to answer calls for help, attend fundraisers, station maintenance, and other public events. We are a 100% Volunteer organization that always accepts new applications for membership. The fire company also runs mutual aid to Harrisburg City, Susquehanna Township, Paxtang Borough, Swatara Township, Lower Paxton Township, South Hanover Township and East Hanover Township.
