The "Recycling Bin", a guide to recycling published by the Dauphin County Commissioners and the Dauphin County Department of Solid Waste Management and Recycling provides the following information:

The following are voluntary recycling depots where magazines, phone books, and corrugated cardboard may be dropped off:
   Uptown Shopping Plaza Parking Lot, North 7th Street and Division in Harrisburg
   Highspire Borough, Lumber Street and Industrial Road, near the Sewage treatment Plant

Some Local Materials Recovery Facilities that take scrap metal, cardboard, magazines and office paper are:
   Consolidated Scrap Resources Inc. (all scrap metal) Cameron Street, Harrisburg
   Sprectum Recyclers, Inc. (paper products only) N. 7th Street, Harrisburg
   Tri-State Recyclers, Inc. (accepts non-ferrous metals and other products) N. 7th Street, Harrisburg

Battery Warehouse and Radio Shack stores take certain types of batteries

Used Cellular Phones, in good working order, are accepted by the Women's Shelter at the YWCA in Harrisburg

Be sure to contact the above firms to see if they are taking the materials you want to recycle, before dropping off any items at the above addresses. Some firms may charge a fee for taking certain materials.
